GitBook is a fully remote company, with team members working from different countries and time zones. For this retreat, the goal was simple but powerful: bring everyone together in person, create space for meaningful connection, and align as a team while enjoying an unforgettable destination.

We designed and organized a full-week company retreat in Monte Argentario, on the Maremma coast of Tuscany. The team stayed at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort, surrounded by nature, sea views and open spaces that invited both focus and relaxation.

A balanced agenda of work, connection and shared experiences

The retreat was structured to balance focused work sessions with moments to disconnect and enjoy the destination. During the week, the team aligned on objectives, upcoming milestones and company priorities, using dedicated spaces for meetings and informal conversations.

Outside of work sessions, we curated experiences that encouraged natural bonding. The team enjoyed a golf lesson together, spent an afternoon sailing along the Maremma coast with time for swimming and snorkeling, and shared a memorable wine tasting day at Tenuta il Quinto. Each activity was chosen to feel relaxed, social and easy, without forcing interaction.

Meals, downtime and transitions were just as important as the activities themselves. A big part of the experience came from simply spending unhurried time together.

Designing the retreat end to end

Gecko Events managed the retreat from start to finish. We supported GitBook with destination planning, venue coordination, accommodation, activities, transfers, agenda flow and on-site presence throughout the entire week.

Our role was to make everything feel smooth and well-paced, so the team could focus on being together instead of logistics. We paid close attention to timing, energy levels and details, adjusting as the week unfolded to keep the experience natural and enjoyable.

This type of company retreat works best when everything feels effortless in the background. That was our priority throughout the week.

A meaningful corporate experience that left a mark

By the end of the retreat, the sense of connection was clear. Conversations flowed easily, relationships felt stronger and the team left Tuscany aligned, recharged and motivated.

For us, this retreat is a great example of how well-designed corporate experiences can support remote teams, strengthen company culture and create lasting memories. It was a real pleasure to work alongside GitBook and bring this experience to life together.
