Cooking Challenge
The SiteMinder People team was in Barcelona from Australia, Germany and several other countries. They wanted something creative and social that would work for an international group. A cooking challenge with a Mediterranean menu was the obvious answer.
When a team flies in from different parts of the world and lands in Barcelona, the experience should reflect where they are. We built the session around a genuinely Mediterranean menu: fresh, seasonal and rooted in the city.
Teams split up, tasks were divided and a professional chef facilitated throughout. A cooking challenge works well for international groups because it bypasses the usual awkwardness of icebreakers. You are too focused on the stove to overthink the social dynamics. By the time everyone sits down to eat, the group has already done the hard work.
